An investigation into directed deflection of ETFE foil through the adhesion of semi-rigid plastic members. The outcome of this experiment can be applied to the integration of a microalgae photobioreactor within an ETFE façade system.
Will Hutchins
Will is an M. Arch student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, set to graduate in 2021. His interests lie at the intersection of design and development. He hopes to challenge the normative ways in which we build through the use of emerging technologies.
Will is interested in exploring the feasibility of integrating a pneumatic ETFE façade system with a microalgae photobioreactor. For the purpose of this class, he will explore how the introduction of semi-rigid plastic to the interior foil of an ETFE cushion can separate a liquid-filled chamber from an air filled-chamber.
