Title of Project (be sure to change cover image behind)
We are researching how recycled materials can be used to insulate buildings. We will be figuring out how the things we throw away compare to standard insulation materials when put to the test. Using recyclable materials may be able to be reused and hopefully reduce costs. Getting these materials out of landfills and into buildings as an insulator and trying to reduce costs is out goal for this project.
Erin Kennedy is a current 2nd year undergraduate student at UNC Charlotte studying Architecture with a minor in Urban Youth and Communities. Set to graduate next year, in 2021, she wants to go into the residential side of architectural design and more specifically, affordable housing. From Mills River, North Carolina, she is interested in learning more about different climates, how to be able to design effectively for these different climates, all while doing it a low cost.
Sydney Mangan is a current 2nd year undergraduate architecture student at UNC Charlotte. Along with Architecture she is currently minoring in Italian. Not sure what she wants to design, but knows it's an ever-growing passion, she seeks to learn and utilize the resources that are available to her. From Charlotte, North Carolina she is interested in urban design and the integration of recyclable materials into the already developed urban fabric. How old and new can create a sustainable relationship for future generations to enjoy.
